Educated at the prestigious Faculty of Architecture at Sint-Lucas Ghent—an institution celebrated for cultivating forward-thinking architectural minds—Frederik broadened his creative horizons through an elite Erasmus exchange at the renowned Milan Polytechnic University, where he immersed himself in the heart of European design innovation. This fusion of Belgian architectural roots and Italian design mastery equips him with a global perspective that sets his work apart.

Alberto Artesani

Meet Alberto Artesani – an Italian architect whose creative DNA is deeply rooted in the cultural richness of his hometown, Piacenza, and the avant-garde design spirit of Milan. Born in 1971, Alberto honed his craft at the prestigious Milan Polytechnic University, a global hub for visionary architects and designers.

Before co-founding DWA, Alberto forged his expertise with Brugy & Messi Associates, where he mastered the art of shaping both intimate private interiors and dynamic commercial spaces. This experience gave him an exceptional ability to balance elegance with functionality, crafting environments that tell stories and elevate everyday life.

Alberto’s architectural voice is defined by refined precision and fearless creativity. DWA Design Studio, renowned for its innovative and sustainable design approach, partnered with Ximula, a pioneering aluminium kitchen cabinet brand, to create a revolutionary kitchen space that embodies both style and functionality. The collaboration aimed to push the boundaries of modern kitchen design, leveraging Ximula’s cutting-edge aluminium systems and DWA’s creative expertise.

The design team at DWA began by exploring the possibilities of Ximula’s modular aluminium cabinets, envisioning a space that seamlessly integrates form and function. They incorporated sleek, minimalist lines, accentuated by strategic lighting to highlight the beauty of the aluminium material. The result was a kitchen that exudes sophistication and elegance, perfect for discerning homeowners.

INSPIRATION

The heart of Terra Verde

In the heart of a tranquil valley, where limestone rocks met the gentle flow of a crystal-clear river, nature wove a tapestry of serenity. Weathered pebbles nestled among the riverbed, covered in a soft blanket of green moss. Tree barks, worn by time and weather, leaned towards the water’s edge, as if listening to the river’s soothing melody. This blend of nature’s elements – limestone rock, tree bark , moss-covered pebbles, and crystal-clear water ripples – captivated DWA, a visionary kitchen designer.

DWA, strolling through this picturesque landscape, found inspiration for a revolutionary kitchen cabinet design. The interplay of textures – the rugged limestone, the organic curves of weathered tree bark, the verdant moss on pebbles, and the transparency of the rippling water – sparked an idea. DWA envisioned kitchen cabinets that echoed this harmony of nature’s elements.

The ” Terra Verde (combining “terra” for earth/land and “verde” for green, reflecting the moss and natural elements) ” kitchen concept was born. Cabinets featured limestone-inspired countertops, with accents of wood grain mimicking the weathered tree bark. Moss-green hardware added a touch of whimsy, reminiscent of the pebbles’ verdant covering. The transparent glass fronts of the cabinets, with subtle ripples etched into the surface, evoked the crystal-clear water’s gentle movement.

In kitchens adorned with the ” Terra Verde ” design, homeowners found a slice of nature’s tranquility. The blend of textures and the play of light through the rippled glass brought a sense of calm and connection to the natural world. DWA’s design, inspired by the serene blend of limestone, tree bark, moss-covered pebbles, and crystal-clear water ripples, transformed kitchens into peaceful retreats.
